Dan Connor Named Penn State Football Linebackers Coach

That’s two legends securing new jobs in one day, folks.

Penn State’s all-time tackle leader and former defensive analyst Dan Connor has been promoted to be the linebackers coach for the 2025 season, according to the staff directory. Connor’s promotion comes after the departure of former defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Tom Allen for Clemson.

Connor is a two-time All-American linebacker who played for Penn State from 2004 through 2007. He went on to get drafted in the third round of the NFL draft by the Carolina Panthers, before going on to play six years in the NFL.

On the coaching side of things, Connor was a defensive coordinator at Widener University from 2018 to 2021 before joining Penn State’s coaching staff as a defensive analyst in 2022.
