Brainstorming A Penn State-Themed Season Of ‘The White Lotus’

Only one word sums up the past three seasons of “The White Lotus”: chaos.
HBO’s hit TV drama “The White Lotus” features an all-star cast on vacation at a beautiful “White Lotus” chain resort. During each episode, the extremely privileged characters unleash chaotic and slightly disturbing behavior over the course of a season. In the end, a week’s worth of paradise turns into each character’s own personal hell.
Now imagine, you’re watching the newest season of “The White Lotus” and recognize famous Penn State themes amongst the new storyline.
As an avid fan of the show myself, I created my own season four of “The White Lotus,” only this time with a Happy Valley twist.
The Setting
After three seasons in the sun, I think it’s time to put “The White Lotus” through some snow. The new season should be featured at a ski resort in the Swiss Alps. Not only does this extreme weather change allow for hilarious dialogue amongst the characters, but it truly unlocks a new side to the show as this resort operates in tundra extreme temperatures and snow. If I have to experience this crazy Pennsylvania winter as a Georgia gal, so will my cast!
The Cast & Characters
For my dream Penn State cross-over cast, these are the actors I would book for the gig.
- Jenson Ackles: Mark Holmes is a Penn State alumni turned finance CEO. This ex-frat president can’t give up his glory days as he always makes his appearance at Beaver Stadium for every home game. Mark’s wife ultimately sent him on this “zen” excursion after he had a mental breakdown gambling away their life savings after this year’s Orange Bowl.
- Robin Wright: Susan Wills is the dean of students at Penn State. Susan is escaping her stressful life in Happy Valley after making a controversial call in regards to shutting State Paddies down for good. Susan is looking to lay low for the week after receiving threatening letters from the student body in regard to State Paddies.
- Judy Greer: Elaine Thomas is a super rich blonde ditz who has become a mega booster for the football team and its NIL collective. She adventured to the resort with her “spring fling”, PSU quarterback Kyle Jacks.
- Ty Simpkins: Jacks is Penn State’s star quarterback. Kyle arrives at the resort with his lover, Elaine, as the world believes he is in California for a summer football training camp with the Manning brothers.
- Lee Pace: Parker Sven is a Penn State RPTM professor who won a free trip for his family at a conference he spoke at last year in New Zealand.
- Katie Stevens: Maggie Sven, Parker’s Wife, is a ski enthusiast who has always dreamed of a trip to the Swiss Alps.
- Cailey Fleming: Lizzie Sven, oldest daughter to Maggie and Parker, is currently a high senior trying to find the time to tell her parents she plans to attend Michigan this coming fall.
- Jackson Robert Scott: Cole Sven, son of Maggie and Parker, enjoys tormenting his family members.
- Thea Eddey: Sarah Kate Sven, youngest daughter to Maggie and Parker, decided Penn State is her dream school at the young age of 9. Her dreams consist of becoming the Nittany Lion and one day working in the Berkey Creamery as an ice cream maker.
- Nathan Fillion: Robert James is a former Penn State baseball star who led the 2000 team to Omaha. Robert now works as a trauma surgeon in NYC taking a vacation to the Alps to enjoy some time away from his fast-paced lifestyle in the city and track down a long-lost friend.
The Plot
As the guests immerse themselves in the culture of Switzerland and all this ski resort has to offer, something goes very wrong at the resort, forcing these characters’ darkest secrets to be revealed.
Will Mark Holmes fix his gambling issue before the week is over? Will Susan Willis be able to save her career likeness within the student body? Will Elaine Thomas and Kyle Jack’s secret romance affect the upcoming football season? Will the Sven family be able to endure all the drama that follows their life after an old friend reappears? Only time will tell…
Overall, I believe if HBO were to pick up my ideas for next season, not only would the show be even more dramatic and juicy, but it would also help earn more money. By including Penn State themes in season four, HBO would please a very large and proud fanbase of over 750,000 alumni.
I mean who would turn down almost an extra million views by just including the best university in its storyline? I know I wouldn’t say no!
