Guy Gadowsky Named Finalist For Spencer Penrose Award

Penn State men’s hockey head coach Guy Gadowsky was named a finalist for the Spencer Penrose award, the American Hockey Coaches Association announced on Monday.
The award is given annually to the best coach in NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey.
Under Gadowsky this season, the Nittany Lions posted a 20-13-4 overall record and finished 9-11-4 in Big Ten play. After an 0-8 start in conference play, the team climbed back into contention and launched an NCAA Tournament run.
In his 13th season with Penn State, Gadowsky notched his 200th career win with the school in a 5-3 win over No. 12-ranked Michigan. The team won many upset battles, including a series sweep against rival Ohio State and victories over Michigan State, Minnesota, Notre Dame, and Maine.
Coach Gadowsky has led the team to its first Frozen Four appearance in school history, securing the ticket to St. Louis in a 3-2 overtime thriller in the Allentown Regional Final.
The Spencer Penrose Award winner will be announced on Tuesday, April 8.
