Five Penn State Men’s Hockey Players Earn Allentown Regional All-Tournament Honors

Was there ever any doubt?

Five Penn State’s men’s hockey players earned NCAA Allentown Regional All-Tournament honors, including forward Dane Dowiak, who won Most Outstanding Player, the NCAA announced Tuesday.

Simon Mack, Cade Christenson, JJ Wiebusch, and Arsenii Sergeev were the four other Nittany Lions who received all-tournament honors.

Penn State’s work in the NCAA Tournament started on Friday when it upset Maine in a massive 5-1 victory with goals from Matt Dimarsico, JJ Wiebusch, and Dane Dowiak.

The Nittany Lions continued their tournament run with a dramatic 3-2 overtime win over UConn, advancing to Frozen Four for the first time in program history. Wiebusch and Dowiak scored Penn State’s first two goals before Dimarsico put the game away with an overtime winner.

Looking forward, Penn State will face Boston University at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, in the Enterprise Center, home of the St. Louis Blues.

If Penn State moves onto the finals of the Frozen Four, they would face the winner of Western Michigan vs. Denver on Saturday, April 12. All of these games will be broadcast on ESPN2.
