Report: Penn State Hoops’ All-Time Leading Scorer Talor Battle To Join Coaching Staff

A program legend is returning to where it all started.

Ohio State assistant coach and Penn State men’s basketball all-time leading scorer Talor Battle will be joining Mike Rhoades’ coaching staff as an assistant, according to Jon Sauber of the Centre Daily Times.

Battle will be replacing the previous assistant coach, Jimmy Martelli, who will be leaving Penn State to return to VCU’s coaching staff.

During his playing career, Battle was a two-time All-Big Ten player and helped lead the Nittany Lions to an NCAA tournament appearance in 2011. Battle also led the Nittany Lions to a 2009 NIT championship and became the program’s all-time leading scorer in his senior year.

To begin his coaching career, Battle spent two years as an assistant coach for Penn State basketball before becoming an assistant coach at Northwestern.

After being at Northwestern for three years, Battle joined Ohio State’s coaching staff this past season before bringing it full circle to Happy Valley once more.
