Former Penn State Women’s Soccer Defender Ginger Fontenot Signs With Brooklyn FC

Former Penn State women’s soccer defender Ginger Fontenot signed with Brooklyn FC’s women’s team, the club announced Tuesday.

Fontenot played three seasons at Penn before arriving in Happy Valley for her sole year at Penn State in 2024. In her time with the Nittany Lions, Fontenot started 25 games, tabbed 2,130 minutes, and dished out an assist.

Fontenot’s leadership on Penn State’s back line earned her a spot on last season’s TopDrawerSoccer Midseason Top-100 Players List.

The Ventura, California, native will join Brooklyn FC’s squad as the team enters the final two months of the USL Super League season. The league is currently the second tier of organized women’s professional soccer in the United States, just below the National Women’s Soccer League.
