Coziah Izzard Rated As Undrafted Free Agent Ahead Of NFL Draft

After five seasons in Happy Valley, Penn State football defensive tackle Coziah Izzard is headed to the NFL Draft.
Izzard was viewed as a four-star recruit coming out of DeMatha Catholic High School per the 247Sports Composite. He ranked as the 38th-best defensive tackle prospect in the nation as a member of the 2020 recruitment class. Izzard chose Penn State over Ohio State, Clemson, Tennessee, and Alabama.
“Strong in the lower body. Good arm length. Bends at knees to win leverage. Technique exists with solid moves,” 247Sports’ Brian Dohn said of Izzard as a high school recruit. “Multi-year starter for Top-20 program. Likely develops into an NFL free agent.”
The Laurel, Maryland, native appeared in 51 games throughout his career with the Nittany Lions. Although he only started during his sophomore season, Izzard totaled 78 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and nine sacks in his career.
Izzard’s best season came in his senior campaign where he appeared in 15 games and recorded a career-high 31 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and two sacks in a crowded defensive line room. He earned one of the sacks during the Nittany Lions’ matchup against Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl this past January.
Despite not receiving an invitation to the NFL Combine, Izzard caught the eye of NFL scouts during his impressive performance at Penn State’s Pro Day. He recorded a 33.5-inch vertical jump, 25 reps on bench press, a 9’5″ broad jump, and clocked a 4.81 40-yard dash.
Measuring in at 6’3″ and 305 pounds, Izzard possesses adequate size and the physical tools necessary to compete for a roster spot at the professional level. The Nittany Lion boasts impressive mobility, power, and flexibility as a pass rusher, but his limited production at the collegiate level could cause concern for NFL teams.
The Consensus Draft Board ranks Izzard as the 676th overall player available in this year’s draft. Izzard is projected to begin his professional career as an undrafted free agent come April.
Izzard recently met with the San Francisco 49ers and has spoken with the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the NFL Draft, per Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda.
The NFL Draft begins at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, and ends on Saturday, April 26, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. All seven rounds will be televised on ESPN and the NFL Network.
