Penn State Men’s Hockey Set As +120 Underdog Against Boston University

The road to victory runs through the Gateway Arch, and Penn State men’s hockey is driving straight through.

After defeating UConn in dramatic fashion during the NCAA Regional final, Penn State is heading to St. Louis to take on Boston University in the Frozen Four.

DraftKings has set the Nittany Lions as +120 underdogs. The game has the over/under set at 6.5 goals, with the money line sitting at -154 for Boston University.

It’s a weekend of firsts for Penn State. This will be its first-ever meeting against Boston University, its first Frozen Four appearance, and its first legitimate shot at a national championship. After starting the season 0-8 in conference play and 7-9 overall, the Nittany Lions’ late push helped secure the team an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament, having posted a record of 14-3-2 since January 17.

Stat To Know

After their overtime win against UConn, Penn State has beaten the oddsmakers in both NCAA Tournament games, first as a +118 underdog against Maine and then as a +140 underdog against UConn.

Of the four teams remaining, Penn State enters the Frozen Four with the lowest odds to win it all at +380, following Western Michigan and Boston University at +280, with Denver given the best odds to win the championship at +200.

Pick Of The Game

Boston University team total goals under 2.5 at +195

Goaltender Arsenii Sergeev has been lights-out for Penn State, allowing just three goals throughout the tournament so far. Backed by the Nittany Lions’ tight, physical defense, it’s hard to imagine Boston University getting three past him. Sergeev posted a stellar 1.5 goals-against average and a .951 save percentage during the Allentown regional.
