Report: Penn State Football Kicker Chase Meyer To Enter Transfer Portal

Penn State football kicker Chase Meyer has entered the transfer portal, he announced Thursday. Meyer was expected to back up Ryan Barker in 2025.

Meyer started his career at Penn in 2022, where he played eight games, mainly taking kickoffs. His 36 total kicks totaled 1,881 yards and one touchback. In his sophomore season, he moved to Tulsa, where he earned third-team All-AAC honors as the starting kicker. He converted 17-of-20 field goal attempts and 30-of-31 PATs.

Before the 2024 season, Meyer transferred to Penn State, where he would ultimately redshirt with Sander Sahaydak and Ryan Barker, who held starter and backup kicking roles. He was named to the Lou Groza Award watch list before the season started. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

As a recruit, Meyer came out of Mater Dei High School. He joins Beckham Dee, Ta’Mere Robinson, and Joseph Mupoyi as Nittany Lions to hit the portal this spring.
