Penn State Softball Adds Two Players From Transfer Portal

Penn State Softball added Cara Bohner and McKenna Young to its roster, the team announced Wednesday.

Bohner transferred from Towson University after three seasons.

Bohner was ranked No. 39 in Pennsylvania during her high school senior season at Danville High School. Bohner went on to play three seasons at Towson University, posting a strong batting average of .289 during the 2025 season.

Bohner decided to transfer back to the Keystone State to play her senior season at Penn State.

Young committed to the Nittany Lions after spending the last two seasons at South Dakota.

Young achieved a total of 152 strikeouts in a season, ranking No. 5 in program history for a single season at South Dakota. Young also posted a 2.46 ERA as a right-handed pitcher. Young decided to make the transfer to Penn State ahead of her junior season.

The 2025 season for Penn State softball was nothing short of exciting. The Nittany Lions held a record of 25-27 and made their quarterfinals appearance in the Big Ten Tournament with a big win over Iowa.
