Your Guide To The Penn State Involvement Fair

The Penn State Involvement Fair is here! We know taking on one of the largest college involvement fairs in the country might seem daunting, but here are some of our best tips and tricks to help you successfully navigate the event!

The involvement fair will be held from noon–6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, and Wednesday, September 3, on the HUB-Robeson Center Lawn. With over 1,000 clubs and orgs on campus, there’s something right for everybody.

Don’t Be Stressed

When looking out onto the HUB Lawn, you might wanna turn around and run back to your dorm or apartment in fear. It can be overwhelming, but taking the first step and talking to the first club or person will make all the difference.

The clubs and orgs are excited to meet you! Typically, the members of the organizations attending on behalf of their club are usually the most enthusiastic, so don’t be nervous to talk to new people!

Go With A Friend

Going with someone you know might make your experience much more enjoyable! Pick a friend who actually wants to be there instead of dragging them out of bed. Comfort is so important, and talking to a new person with someone you already know could make a really positive impact on your time there!

Do Some Research Beforehand

There is truly a place for everyone at Penn State. You can always make a big school feel smaller and find your niche. Researching some of the clubs attending might help narrow down your decision on which clubs you want to meet with. Find out what they’re all about, what type of org they are, and decide if you think it’s the right place for you!

Talk To People

I know what you’re thinking…duh. But it’s so easy to just take a flyer, or join a GroupMe by scanning a QR code. Actually talking to the members of the organization can help you get more comfortable right off the bat. The members will be able to answer any questions you might have, they’ll know all of the important info, and you get to make a brand new friend!

Attend Your College-Specific Involvement Fair

The Penn State involvement fair might help you find exactly what you’re looking for, but there’s also a good chance that a club you might be really interested in won’t be at the university-wide involvement fair. Rather, the involvement fair that best falls under a specific college/major, such as Smeal, Bellisario, etc, may have what you’re looking for.

Find Your Home

This is the best opportunity on campus to make new friends, branch out, and well… get involved! You can meet some of your best friends by going to involvement fairs, and most Penn Staters who are successful members of their clubs/orgs started by attending them! So get out there and find your forever friends!

Still haven’t found what you’re looking for? Maybe Onward State is the place for you!
