Penn State To Switch From Nike To Adidas Pending Board Of Trustees Approval

Penn State is switching from Nike to Adidas in the school’s first apparel brand change since 1993, per On3’s Brett McMurphy. The deal is pending approval from Penn State’s Board of Trustees.
Nike has supplied Penn State with everything from athletic uniforms to sandals since 1993. Nike became synonymous with Penn State’s brand as the deal was one of the first done in the college football realm. Nike founder and CEO Phil Knight grew close with Joe Paterno in the early ’90s, paving the way for the deal that has never been fully disclosed to this day.
Pending approval, Adidas now has a major stake in the Big Ten after recently signing Tennessee from Nike in the SEC. With so much excitement surrounding Penn State’s football program as the 2025 season is now in swing, Adidas may just be swooping in at the right time for a massive apparel change.
