Things To Do To Fill Your Bye Weekend

Without a Penn State football game to occupy your time this weekend, you may be wondering what to do to cure your bye week blues. Luckily, there is never a shortage of things to do in Happy Valley.
Cheer On Another Penn State Team
If you still need to cheer on a Penn State sports team, you’re in luck. Men’s soccer takes on No. 5 Indiana at Jeffrey Field on Friday night at 7 p.m., and women’s soccer plays Wisconsin on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Women’s volleyball takes on Princeton at Rec Hall on Friday at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. against Central Michigan.
Downtown State College Farmers Market
Friday afternoon, you can enjoy the farmers’ market on Locust Lane from 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. The market offers produce, baked goods, flowers, and more.
Pop Up Ave Vintage Market
On Saturday, the Pop Up Ave market returns to State College from 11 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. on South Allen Street between Beaver and Foster Avenues. There will be a DJ keeping the music bumping all day, food vendors, a beer garden, and plenty of vintage goods for customers to purchase.
Happy Valley Latin Festival
After you stop by Pop Up Ave, you can head over to the Happy Valley Latin Festival in MLK Plaza. The free event has artisanal items from Latino artists, and plenty of live music like samba, tango, salsa, and more.
Hike Mount Nittany
If you have been meaning to cross this iconic hike off your Penn State bucket list, this weekend is the perfect time, folks. The top of Mount Nittany has a gorgeous panoramic view of campus and downtown, and there are multiple routes you can take depending on what intensity you are looking for.
Go Golfing
If you can’t watch any sports this weekend, why not hit the links and play one yourself? The Penn State golf facilities offer two 18-hole courses and a range to play on. You can book a tee time here.
Go To The Arboretum
The Arboretum is beautiful all year round, but it especially shines during the fall. Go for a walk, take in the scenery, or catch up on some homework while enjoying the changing leaves.
Bald Eagle State Park
After three weeks of games back-to-back-to-back, you may need to go touch some grass. Bald Eagle State Park, just a quick 30-minute drive from downtown, has a 1,720-acre lake and plenty of trails. You can fish, camp, hike, boat, or do anything else you need to do to reconnect with nature.
Rest And Prepare For The White Out
If you do nothing this weekend besides sitting around, that’s okay! Get some rest, cure any illness you have brewing, and get ready for The Greatest Show in College Sports.
