Brainstorming Penn State-Inspired Halloween Costumes

Happy Valley, it’s that time of year again! Halloween is creeping up like an exam at the Pollock Testing Center, but don’t fret! We’ve got you covered.

In previous years, we’ve created costumes from the infamous CATA bus to your average Delco student. With a whirlwind of new trends and changing aspects, here is a list of costumes for Penn State Halloween, 2025.

Nittany Lion Mascot

Penn State wouldn’t be Penn State without our renowned mascot. Why not walk around downtown in a lion costume with abs? The Nittany Lion marks the heart of Penn State, and Halloween would truly be lost without the Penn State pride and whiteout energy!

Your Basic Blonde

With trends changing over time, this has to be one that you will find the most on campus. The same young, blonde girl wearing the same brand sweatshirt with their UGG slippers and Dunkin’ coffee in hand. On one side, you’ll fit right in with your crowd on Halloween, but on the other, you couldn’t possibly ruin your UGGs at the frat? Right?

“You Gotta Text?”

The best part about this costume is that it’s timeless. If you have the right height and a perfect sassy attitude, you might get the golden buzzer for this one. Everybody has faced this, and unfortunately, this epidemic at Penn State is harder to get rid of than the frat flu. In light of this costume, you can probably find the contents for it at your local frat house!

Benny Leone’s Pizza Slice

A new take on Halloween? I think so! Benny Leone’s took State College by storm this past year. Known for their ginormous slices, it is almost irresistible to dress up as this for Halloween. With minimal effort, this costume has to take the cake! Or, in this case, pizza slice?

Den Warrior

It’s okay to admit it; we’ve all been there. You know what they say, “You are where you go every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.” With a costume like this, people will for sure stop you to ask if you’re going to the Lion’s Den. It’s not a phase, it’s a lifestyle.

Creamery Cow

Every Penn Stater’s favorite thing, the creamery. Without the delicious chocolate milk or ice cream, all students would feel empty. With Halloween coming up, you can be the beginning of it all! The cow! The best part of this costume is that you can choose comfort above all. Another easy costume, added to the list.

White out, blacked out

Another easy costume is coming your way. While we’re still amid football season, this costume is bound to be a hit. Made with items you most likely already have, this costume is good for a last-minute night out on Halloweekend or a party you don’t want to be at.

Caught In The Fire Alarm

This costume has been videotaped by many when the fire alarm strikes late. Most people walk outside of their building, soap and water still in their hair. If you’re planning for a long night in this costume, maybe opt for a towel in the hair. To add some more humor, do this in a group, then you have people in robes running around State College!

Domesticated PSU Squirrel

There is truly nothing better than walking to class and having a squirrel pass under your feet like you don’t exist. With this costume, you could walk over anybody, and they wouldn’t question it! I also like to call this one “the acorn magnet” because this just wouldn’t make sense if it were a “chick magnet.”
