Two Pulitzer Prize Winners To Speak At Penn State’s Foster-Foreman Conference On October 28 & 29

Two Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists are set to visit Penn State for this year’s Foster-Foreman Conference of Distinguished Writers, the university announced on October 21. The event will take place on October 28 and 29 in the Foster Auditorium at the Pattee and Paterno Library.

Tom Hallman Jr., a retired writer and columnist for The Oregonian, will kick things off with a lecture at 6 p.m. on Monday. Maria Hinjosa, a broadcast journalist, podcast producer, and founder of Futuro Media, will close out the conference with a lecture at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Both sessions will include Q&A opportunities following the presentations.

Hallman earned the Pulitzer Prize for feature writing in 2001 for “The Boy Behind the Mask.” Hinojosa received the honor for audio reporting in 2022 for her podcast series, “Suave.”

Both lectures are free and open to the public.
