Cooking Up The Next Coaches Corner Burger At The Field

The Field Burger and Tap is known for its “Coach’s Corner” menu, where Penn State coaches get to create their own signature burger from scratch. Each one gets a fitting name and a spot on the lineup, at least while the coach stays at Penn State.

After James Franklin’s firing, “The Coach Franklin” was removed from the menu, leaving an open spot on the list. So, with the next Penn State head coach still undecided, we decided to help The Field get ahead of the game.

Using the top four coaching candidates according to Kalshi’s betting odds, we came up with some possible replacements for the next Coach’s Corner creation.

Eli Drinkwitz – The Drinkwhich

A nod to Eli Drinkwitz’s well-documented love for cinnamon rolls, he’s even called himself a “connoisseur” of them. There’s no better burger for Coach Drinkwitz than The Drinkwhich. It would feature an Eleven Oaks Wagyu patty topped with maple-glazed bacon and, of course, a swirl of cinnamon butter.

Jeff Brohm – The Brohm Bomb

A regular at Louisville’s Mike Linnig’s, Jeff Brohm once said that if faced with saving a football or one of the restaurant’s famous fish sandwiches, he’d pick the sandwich every time.

It’s only fitting that his burger would take inspiration from that. The Brohm Bomb would replace the standard Wagyu patty with a beer-battered filet, topped with tartar sauce and, presumably, whatever else people who actually enjoy fish sandwiches prefer.

Brian Hartline – The Hart Attack

After searching high and low, there weren’t any stories tying Brian Hartline to a specific food, which feels like a missed opportunity. To match the name, The Hart Attack should be a massive burger stacked with at least two patties, a lot of bacon, cheddar cheese, fried onions, and plenty of sauce. It’s greasy, cheesy, and definitely unhealthy, but that’s kind of the point.

Manny Diaz – The Diaz Discipline

During his time at the University of Miami, Manny Diaz made headlines for rewarding players who showed up, worked hard, and stayed disciplined with all-you-can-eat steak and seafood, while those who slacked off were left with cold pasta and hot dogs.

His burger would definitely belong at the winners’ table. The Diaz Discipline would feature a wagyu patty topped with lobster meat and melted butter. I’m not too sure if this would actually taste good, but it should at least earn points for creativity. It would definitely run you more than the $18-$20 the other Coach’s Corner burgers go for.
