Penn State Women’s Volleyball’s Gillian Grimes Named Big Ten Libero Of The Year

Penn State women’s volleyball senior Gillian Grimes was named the Big Ten Libero of the Year, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Grimes has started 94 consecutive games at libero and finished the season by leading the Penn State defense with 3.68 digs per set and with 1,615 career digs. Grimes ranks fourth in program history in career digs.
In the midst of a tumultuous season for the Nittany Lions, Grimes was a key piece for head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley in sending Penn State back to the NCAA Tournament.
Grimes earned a spot on the All-Big Ten First Team this season and was picked up by San Diego Mojo in the second round of the Major League Volleyball (MLV) draft.
