Best Finals Week Study Spots

With finals around the corner, you might be wondering where the best spots to go are. With the library being like Black Friday — having to get there an hour before it opens just to get a good spot, you might be thinking about other places.
We’ve compiled a list of the best study spots, whether it’s on campus or downtown, and you’re guaranteed to find the perfect place to pass that exam.
Stuckeman Family Building Architecture and Landscape Architecture Library
Still wanting that library environment, but not sure where to go? While this library is small, it definitely gives you the perfect vibe to relax and lock in. Certain times of the day might make it harder to find a spot, but with architecture students tied to their final projects and not getting to leave the studio much, you might actually have an easier time finding a seat this time of year.
Paterno and Pattee Library
If you’re feeling brave, this could still be a strong contender — especially if you’re lucky enough to sit in the Harry Potter rooms. This is another spot that brings the kind of vibes that make you want to study, and the best part is that everyone around you is motivated, so you can be too! With a quick coffee break at Starbucks, you’re sure to have the energy to keep going.
Biobehavioral Health Building
This is a good option if you live downtown or close to South, as it isn’t too far of a walk. And if you sit in the best spot, you can get a beautiful view of the HUB and some of campus, which can be a nice break from your screen. Plus, the steady flow of people outside can give you just enough background energy to stay focused.
Paul Robeson Cultural Center
While this is a classic and another spot that’s always busy, it’s in a great location, and there are plenty of food options for a good pick-me-up. The constant movement around you can get very distracting, but if you go to the third floor, it’s much quieter and easier to stay focused. If you’re someone who studies best with a little noise and can’t get a spot on the third floor, this place still hits the sweet spot.
Elixr Coffee
If you are a coffee lover and enjoy doing your work in that kind of environment, this could be the spot for you. From baked goods to warm coffee, this might be the best winter comfort for motivating your study time. This can get pretty packed, but if you snag a seat, the cozy atmosphere makes it easy to stay productive.
K2 ROOTS
This choice, just like some others, will give you great food options; what more could you need when studying? The vibes in there scream chill, and the earthy, natural feel of the space might even make you want to stay and study longer.
Huck Life Sciences Building
While this spot is very limited, its views are the most promising and could be surprisingly motivating. The building itself doesn’t have much to offer, but the bridge connection provides the best view around. Seating is limited, but if you manage to grab a spot, the scenery alone can make studying feel a lot more inspiring.
Fraser Street Commons
This might be your best option for a downtown study location. Like all the others, there’s always the chance it can get crowded, but the energy in there is immaculate and allows you to focus and stay motivated while you work. Plus, don’t forget about the free snacks they hand out.
Business Building
Hear this one out: grabbing Saxbys and finding a seat might not be on your agenda for finals, but on the third floor, directly off the elevator, there’s a cushioned spot that’s perfect. During non-class times, this spot always hits. It feels secluded and lets you get comfy. Saxbys nearby is a bonus, and who doesn’t love the vibe of the business building? It’s pretty far from most student housing, so who’s really making their way here? More room for you!
While these are just a small list of options, the opportunities are endless. Good luck out there, folks, go ace those exams! Remember to take breaks and keep your energy up while you study.
