Nittany Lions In The NFL: Week 14 Roundup

It was an exhilarating week for Penn State football, folks.

From Pat Kraft and the conclusion of the head coaching search to the Pinstripe Bowl, there was enough news and drama to fill up an entire season.

If you were too busy celebrating Matt Campbell’s hiring to watch the NFL, here’s how some former Penn State stars played in week 14.

Joey Porter Jr., Pittsburgh Steelers

Defensive back Joey Porter Jr. made four tackles, including three solo tackles, as the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Baltimore Ravens, 27-22. The 2023 second-round pick also defended one pass in the Steelers’ victory.

Kevin Winston Jr., Tennessee Titans

Safety Kevin Winston Jr. recorded five tackles, including four solo tackles and a pair of tackles-for-loss, in the Titans’ 31-29 win over the Cleveland Browns. The rookie also defended two passes to help the Titans earn their second win of the season.

Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts

Tyler Warren caught two passes for just 15 yards as the Indianapolis Colts fell 36-29 to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The rookie also had one rushing attempt for just two yards.

Warren’s two receptions are the lowest total of his short career.

Chop Robinson, Miami Dolphins

Pass rusher Chop Robinson recorded one tackle, which was a sack, in the Miami Dolphins’ 34-10 victory over the New York Jets. Robinson now has sacks in back-to-back weeks after going eight games without one.

Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Chris Godwin hauled in five catches for 55 yards as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were upset by the New Orleans Saints, 24-20. Godwin led the Buccaneers in receptions and receiving yards.

Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals

Mike Gesicki caught six passes for 86 yards and a touchdown as the Cincinnati Bengals lost a shootout to the Buffalo Bills, 39-34. After scoring, the tight end showed off his dance moves in the end zone.

PJ Mustipher, Arizona Cardinals

Defensive tackle PJ Mustipher recorded seven tackles, including two solo tackles, as the Arizona Cardinals fell to the Los Angeles Rams, 45-17. Before Sunday, Mustipher had never had more than four total tackles in a game.

Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles

Saquon Barkley rushed 20 times for 122 yards in the Philadelphia Eagles’ overtime 22-19 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Barkley broke off a 52-yard rush on the first play of the 4th quarter to score the Eagles’ only touchdown of the game.

Odafe Oweh, Los Angeles Chargers

Pass rusher Odafe Oweh made two solo tackles, including a sack, as the Chargers defeated the Eagles 22-19 in overtime on Monday night. It was a bounce-back game for Oweh, who did not have any tackles against the Las Vegas Raiders in week 13.

Other Notable Performances:

  • Arnold Ebiketie made a pair of tackles and defended one pass in the Atlanta Falcons’ 37-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
  • Jordan Stout launched two punts for a total of 102 yards as the Ravens fell to the Steelers, 27-22.
  • Pat Freiermuth caught two passes for nine yards as the Steelers beat the Ravens, 27-22.
  • Brenton Strange hauled in three catches for 27 yards in the Jaguars’ 36-29 victory over the Colts.
  • Micah Parsons had just one tackle as the Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears, 28-21.
  • Jaquan Brisker recorded two solo tackles in the Bears’ 28-21 loss to the Packers.
  • Jahan Dotson made one catch for three yards as the Eagles fell to the Chargers 22-19.
