Three-Star Wide Receiver Ben Whitver Commits To Penn State Football

Class of 2026 three-star wide receiver Ben Whitver has committed to Penn State football, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported on Saturday. The announcement came just minutes after the Nittany Lions took down Clemson in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Whitver is listed as the No. 28 player in Virginia, No. 143 wide receiver, and No. 1,007 player nationally, per 247Sports composite rankings.

The Powhatan, Virginia, native ended his high school career with 3,501 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns on 209 receptions. He also added 171 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, per his MaxPreps profile.

He originally committed to JMU, but was released from his national letter of intent after the head coach Bob Chesney took the UCLA job. His recruitment was open for just one day before he chose the Nittany Lions.

The commitment marks the eighth Matt Campbell’s picked up in the class of 2026 since he took over as head coach. With national signing day in the past, it was unclear if he would even get one. Whitver is the first non-former Iowa State commit to jump to the Nittany Lions.

The wide receiver chose Penn State over Buffalo, Liberty, Wake Forest, and East Carolina. To watch what the playmaker can bring to Happy Valley next season, check out his Hudl highlights here.
