Report: Penn State Football Safety Antoine Belgrave-Shorter Enters Transfer Portal

Penn State football safety Antoine Belgrave-Shorter has entered the transfer portal, per Lions247’s Daniel Gallen. Belgrave-Shorter has three years of eligibility remaining.

Belgrave-Shorter preserved his redshirt in true freshman season by only appearing in three regular season games. He won the coaching staff’s Developmental Squad Special Teams Player of the Week leading up to Penn State’s 28-13 win over Wisconsin. He played in all three of Penn State’s College Football Playoff games.

James Franklin unveiled Belgrave-Shorter as Penn State’s starting safety alongside Zakee Wheatley ahead of the Nittany Lions’ season opener against Nevada. Franklin said Belgrave-Shorter produced the most turnovers in fall camp and that the coaching staff was excited about him.

That dream died quickly. Belgrave-Shorter struggled at the position and was subsequently benched within three games. The secondary improved as King Mack overtook the starting safety spot throughout the season. Belgrave-Shorter still appeared in nine games in 2025, totaling 14 tackles.

Belgrave-Shorter was a three-star recruit in the class of 2024 out of Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida. He was recruited as a cornerback and was the No. 61 player at the position in his class and No. 96 player in Florida, per 247Sports’ Composite rankings.

Belgrave-Shorter is the 32nd Nittany Lion to hit the transfer portal.
