Report: Former Penn State Football Linebacker Anthony Speca Transfers To Purdue

Former Penn State football linebacker Anthony Speca is transferring to Purdue, per Matt Zentiz of CBS. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Speca preserved his redshirt by only playing in six games in 2024, where he made early impressions with eight tackles and a quarterback hurry. He played in 11 games in 2025 and was expected to take up a bigger role in the linebacker rotation as a result of Tony Rojas’ season-ending injury. However, freshman Alex Tatsch overtook more of the role behind Amare Campbell and Dom DeLuca. He recorded six tackles in his redshirt freshman season.

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native was ranked as a four-star recruit and No. 9 player in the state, No. 41 linebacker in the class of 2024, and No. 467 player in the nation out of Central Catholic High School, per 247Sports’ Composite rankings.

With Rojas and Tatsch set to return and Matt Campbell bringing over his guys from Iowa State, it seemed there wasn’t space for Speca moving forward.
