Report: Penn State Football Safety Dejuan Lane Enters Transfer Portal

Penn State football sophomore safety Dejuan Lane is entering the transfer portal, according to a report from Matt Zenitz. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Lane had previously tweeted his allegiance to the Nittany Lions, saying he would be returning.
Lane joined the Nittany Lions in 2024 and made an immediate impact after Kevin Winston Jr.’s injury early in the season. As a true freshman, Lane played in 16 games, recording 14 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception.
In 2025, the Jessup, Maryland, native played in every game for Penn State again, starting three of them. He ended the season with 22 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and one sack.
The 6’2″ and 206-pounder was a four-star recruit in high school, according to 247Sports composite rankings, and listed as the No. 10 player in Maryland, No. 31 safety, and No. 325 player nationally. He chose Penn State over Duke, Boston College, and Akron.
Lane is the 43rd Nittany Lion to enter the transfer portal since the end of the 2025 season. He leaves the safety room with many questions. Zakee Wheatley, the other starting safety, has already declared for the NFL Draft.
