Report: Former Utah Defensive Tackle Dallas Vakalahi Transfers To Penn State Football

Former Utah defensive lineman Dallas Vakalahi has signed with Penn State, per On3’s Pete Nakos. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Vakalahi was initially a three-star recruit in the Class of 2022 out of Salt Lake City, Utah, ranked as the No. 131 defensive lineman and No. 14 player in the state, according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings. He committed to Utah in 2021, choosing the Utes over TCU and Oregon State.

Despite graduating high school in 2022, Vakalahi did not suit up for the Utah football team until 2024 due to a two-year mission for the Church of Latter Day Saints. He immediately contributed as a true freshman in 2024 with 16 tackles and two sacks in nine games.

His production dipped in 2025, but he still made nine tackles in as many games, starting two. The 6’2″, 318-pound defensive tackle entered the transfer portal at the end of the season and scheduled a visit to Happy Valley.

Vakalahi is the latest transfer portal acquisition for Matt Campbell and company, bringing the total to 25. He is the fourth defensive line acquisition. Campbell has already earned commitments from Iowa State’s Alijah Carnell, Oklahoma State’s Armstrong Nnodim, and UCLA’s Keanu Williams.
