Report: Former Penn State Defensive End Chaz Coleman Transfers To Tennessee

Off to Rocky Top.
Former Penn State defensive end Chaz Coleman is transferring to Tennessee, per Hayes Fawcett of On3. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Coleman was a four-star edge rusher out of Warren, OH, when he committed to Penn State in November 2024. He was a late bloomer in the recruiting process, eventually rising to the No. 31 edge rusher in the nation and No. 9 recruit in Ohio, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Initially, it looked like Coleman would be a success story of plucking out of Ohio State’s backyard, as he flashed brilliance as a true freshman in 2025. He registered two tackles for loss and had a strip sack and fumble recovery against FIU before later recovering a fumble in Columbus to set up a touchdown drive at the end of the first half.
After being a rotational edge rusher for much of the year, Coleman missed the next three games after Ohio State, only returning to play seven snaps against Rutgers before departing the program prior to the Pinstripe Bowl and entering the portal. He finished the season with eight tackles and three tackles for loss, but he graded out extremely well on Pro Football Focus in limited reps.
He was immediately ranked among the best non-quarterbacks in the portal, getting interest from Tennessee, LSU, and Ohio State. He ultimately decided to head to Knoxville, Tennessee, joining former Nittany Lions Xavier Gilliam and Amare Campbell.
