How Penn State Commonwealth Campuses Can Get Involved In THON 2026

When people think of THON, they often picture the Bryce Jordan Center at University Park — 46 hours of no sitting, no sleeping, and thousands of students and community members dancing For The Kids. But what many don’t realize is that THON is much bigger than one campus. It’s a Penn State-wide effort powered by Commonwealth Campuses across the state, all playing an important role in fundraising, organizing, and supporting the mission.

No matter which Penn State campus you call home, there are meaningful ways to get involved in THON at all of them.

Join A THON Organization

The most common way students can get involved is by joining an organization. Many Commonwealth Campuses have their own THON-specific groups or partner organizations dedicated to supporting the cause. Getting involved allows you to attend meetings, collaborate on fundraising ideas, participate in events, and build connections with others who are passionate about helping children and families. Taking part in an organization not only strengthens your campus community but also helps every campus have a voice in the effort.

Fundraising

THON is all about fundraising to support the Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. Every dollar raised helps cover medical expenses for families affected by childhood cancer. Students at any campus can contribute to fundraising efforts that make a meaningful difference. Some common ways include hosting campus events, selling merchandise, doing social media challenges, and other creative initiatives. Fundraising doesn’t require being at University Park; what matters most is the dedication to the mission.

Attending Events & Spreading Awareness

Many campuses host THON-related events throughout the year, such as kickoff celebrations, awareness weeks, and community events. Simply attending, sharing information, or encouraging others to take part can make a difference. Awareness is powerful, and the more people who come together to support THON’s mission, the stronger our support becomes for the children and families who need it.

Livestream

Students can tune into the THON livestream to experience every moment, even if they can’t physically be present. Watching is a meaningful way to stay connected, show support, and celebrate the impact. No matter where you are, you can still be part of the fight. Every view and share helps promote the message and remind families that the entire Penn State community stands behind them.

One Community, No Matter The Campus

THON is not limited to one location. It’s a statewide movement fueled by compassion and unity. Commonwealth campuses help every year in making THON what it is today. Whether you’re joining an organization, supporting a fundraiser, attending an event, or tuning in from miles away, you are part of something bigger.
