Former Penn State Football Safety Lamont Payne Jr. Transfers To Delaware State

Former Penn State football safety Lamont Payne Jr. has committed to transfer to Delaware State, he announced Tuesday. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Payne appeared in seven games in the last three seasons, mostly on special teams. He did not record a single stat. The safety was named the coaching staff’s Developmental Squad Defensive Player of the Week twice in his true freshman 2023 campaign.

Payne was a three-star recruit out of Chartiers Valley High School in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania. He was tabbed as the No. 10 player in the state, No. 60 cornerback in the class of 2023, and No. 608 player in the nation, per 247Sports’ Composite rankings. He recorded 43 tackles and four interceptions as a senior.
