Your THON 2026 Checklist

THON Weekend is quickly approaching, which means it’s time to make those final preparations. Whether you are dancing, volunteering, or supporting your friends in the stands, this weekend will test your dedication to a great cause. If you prepare correctly, your weekend will go smoothly.

We’ve put together the perfect checklist to make sure you’re physically, mentally, and logistically prepared for the weekend.

Wear Comfortable Shoes

When you’re standing for hours on end, blisters can easily become a problem. Be sure to choose comfortable sneakers that are already broken in and familiar to you. Bringing a second pair can also be a smart idea, giving you the option to alternate if one pair starts to feel uncomfortable. That said, choose wisely as the right pair of shoes prevents discomfort over the weekend.

Stay Healthy

In the days leading up to THON Weekend, it’s important to be cautious about your social interactions, especially if you are a dancer or even a volunteer. If you’re planning on going out, be considerate of your health and the health of those around you. Above all, this weekend is about the kids, and we all need to ensure their experience is positive and as safe as possible.

Get a Clear Bag

For those attending THON Weekend in the stands, make sure you’re aware of the clear bag policy at the Bryce Jordan Center. Backpacks and other large bags will not be permitted, so make sure you have a clear bag that meets the required size (no larger than 12” x 12” x 6”). If you are unsure of where to get a bag that fits these measurements, McLanahan’s has great, affordable options.

Get Ahead On Schoolwork

With the excitement of THON Weekend approaching, it’s easy to fall behind on assignments. Try to get ahead this week, you’ll be grateful when the weekend arrives, and you can fully engage in the activities without worrying about approaching deadlines. Wrapping up your work ahead of time lets you stay present and enjoy every part of the weekend stress-free.

Hydrate!

Amidst all of the excitement, it can be easy to forget to drink water. Staying hydrated helps keep your energy levels up throughout long days. Dehydration can make you feel tired, dizzy, or unfocused, which can severely affect you when standing for a long time. Carrying a reusable water bottle throughout the weekend makes it easier to drink water regularly. Making hydration a priority will help you feel your best and fully enjoy the experience.

Cut Out Caffeine

It seems impossible to cut out caffeine when you are awake for 46 hours, but it is the easiest way to survive the weekend. The last thing you want is caffeine withdrawal in the middle of THON Weekend. Instead of relying on energy drinks, reach for your water bottle. Take these next few days to eliminate caffeine, so you can stay alert and engaged all weekend.

Rest Up

Lastly, and most importantly, make sleep a priority this week. The key to surviving THON Weekend is being well-rested, since you won’t be getting much sleep over the weekend. Regardless of your role, catching up on rest now will help set you up for success, so focus on getting quality sleep while you can.
