Open Letter To The Bryce Jordan Center: Fix The Water Stations

When you’re at THON for an extended period of time, there’s no doubt you’re going to get thirsty. To avoid dehydration, you head to the water filling station with your reusable water bottle. The only problem? The line is the length of the entire Bryce Jordan Center, and there’s no way you’re going to get back to your portal in time.
With the number of students attending THON throughout the weekend, it’s obvious that the lines are going to get long. However, when lines take more than 10 minutes, people are going to get discouraged and therefore become dehydrated. Or, waste money on a $3 water bottle from one of the stands on the concourse.
There is one solution to this problem, however: adding more water filling stations or fixing the ones that are already in place. Simply making the ones already in commission a little faster would make the line move and get students back to their orgs without any problems.
Most people don’t really use regular water fountains anymore, either. So replacing those with more water filling stations could be what the Bryce Jordan Center needs during THON Weekend.
At the end of the day, THON Weekend is all about coming together to celebrate the efforts of THON. The Bryce Jordan Center should be doing all that it can to ensure students participating can be as comfortable and supported as possible. Making sure that they can get the water they need to stay on their feet should be the first priority.
So, to the Bryce Jordan Center: Please fix your water filling stations before THON Weekend 2027. All student orgs, dancers, and press would thank you.
