Charlie Cerrato Set To Return To Penn State Men’s Hockey Lineup Ahead Of Final Regular Season Game

Penn State men’s hockey forward Charlie Cerrato is returning to the Nittany Lions’ lineup ahead of their final regular-season game against No. 11 Wisconsin, according to Penn State’s lineup card released Friday.
Cerrato has not played since suffering an undisclosed injury in the first period of Penn State’s January 9 win over Minnesota. He was initially labeled day-to-day before Gadowsky later announced he would miss the remainder of the regular season, making his return earlier than expected.
Prior to the injury, Cerrato was one of Penn State’s top offensive contributors, recording six goals and 18 assists for 24 points in 19 games, along with winning roughly 60% of his draws.
The sophomore also centered one of the most productive lines in college hockey alongside Matt DiMarsico and JJ Wiebusch. Cerrato will return to that second-line role, with Reese Laubach moving up to the top line and Luke Misa shifting down to the third line alongside Shea Van Olm and Ben Schoen.
Cerrato was also recognized twice by the Big Ten this season. He was named the conference’s First Star of the Week on October 7 after posting a six-point weekend and later earned Second Star of the Week honors on January 6.
