[Photo Story] Lady Lions’ 2025-2026 Season

Penn State women’s basketball wrapped up their 2025-2026 season with a loss against Indiana, finishing with an overall record of 11–18, followed by the firing of head coach Carolyn Kieger. We have gathered the best photos from the season to highlight both their highs and lows.

Starting the season strong, they began with four back-to-back wins.

With the rest of the season being up in the air, they still pushed through for those last couple of wins before their final game.

Kiyomi McMiller, No. 23, was a standout player this season with 21.6 points per game, 130 assists, and 53 steals. She was followed by Gracie Merkle, No. 44, who averaged 19.2 points per game.

This season, the Lady Lions continued their tradition of honoring breast cancer survivors at their 20th annual Pink Zone game against Northwestern. This game was a highlight for them as they won 81-71. McMiller went off for 32 points, and Merkle added 19 points and 11 rebounds

The Lady Lions’ season was tough; they fought hard after continuous losses. This was Carolyn Kieger’s seventh season, with only one winning season during 2023-2024. After the season concluded, her firing was announced on March 5th, setting her overall record at Penn State at 84-123.

Overall, the Lady Lions faced a challenging year, finishing near the bottom of the Big Ten conference. Despite the challenges, the search for the new coach will hope for a fresh start next season.
