Penn State Men’s Hockey To Face Minnesota-Duluth In NCAA Tournament Regionals

No. 3-seeded Penn State men’s hockey will face No. 2-seeded Minnesota-Duluth in the Albany NCAA Regionals at 9 p.m. on Friday, March 27, at MVP Arena in Albany, New York.
The Nittany Lions head back to the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row after a historic run to the Frozen Four last season.
Penn State enters the NCAA Tournament after finishing the season at 21-13-2. The Nittany Lions fell 5-2 to Michigan in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament. The team had posted a record of 3-6-2 since January 30 and has gone 1-3-2 in its last six games.
After climbing as high as No. 4 in the USCHO poll, Penn State dropped to No. 10 following a late-season slide, including a sweep by Wisconsin earlier this month.
Penn State has battled injuries throughout its locker room down the stretch. Charlie Cerrato returned ahead of the regular-season finale, while Braedon Ford rejoined the lineup at the start of the Big Ten tournament.
However, captain Dane Dowiak and Nick Fascia, who both underwent surgery, are out for the NCAA tournament.
If Penn State advances, they’ll play the winner of No. 1-seeded Michigan vs No. 4-seeded Bentley on Sunday, March 29.
