[Photo Story] Penn State Wrestling’s 2025-2026 Season

Penn State wrestling finished its 2025-2026 season on March 21. The Nittany Lions ended as the 2026 NCAA National Champions, marking their fifth straight national title. With an impressive 15-0 dual meet record, we decided to take a look at some of the best photos from the year.

Starting off the season, Penn State earned its first win against Oklahoma in an impressive 45-0 blowout. The Nittany Lions followed that up with wins against Drexel and Lehigh, with a combined score of 79-9.

Their next home match was against Rutgers on January 10, where they dominated 46–0. Rocco Whelsh got a statement win over then-No. 15 Shane Cartagena-Welsh. Before that, though, Penn State took down North Dakota State and Stanford.

The Nittany Lions fought hard throughout the season with several pins. They ended the season with 29 thanks to five a piece from PJ Duke, Levi Haines, and Mitchell Mesenbrink.

Mesenbrink finished the season undefeated with a perfect 27–0 record. He ended the year with another national championship.

Head coach Cael Sanderson helped guide the team through another undefeated season. The Nittany Lions have won 13 of the last 15 team titles thanks for the former Iowa State man.

The team dominated the Big Ten Wrestling Championships and advanced to the NCAA Division I Championships, where they claimed their fifth straight title.

With another successful year, we hope the greatest dynasty in sports continues next fall. Stay tuned for plenty more electric photos during the 2026-2027 season.
