Penn State Men’s Hockey Forward Matt DiMarsico Signs Two-Year Contract With Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche are signing Penn State men’s hockey forward Matt DiMarsico to a two-year, entry-level contract, the organization announced. The contract kicks in at the start of the 2026-27 season, and DiMarsico will head to Denver to join the AHL’s Colorado Eagles for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
DiMarsico shone in his junior year with the Nittany Lions, recording 42 points (18 goals, 24 assists) in 37 games. His 18 goals led the team while only trailing Gavin McKenna in points.
The Pennsylvania native has played three seasons at Penn State, totalling 100 points (42 goals, 58 assists) in 111 career games. He also earned Big Ten Honorable Mention All-Star recognition this season.
DiMarsico played a huge role in the team’s recent success, helping Penn State reach the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years. During the 2024-25 season, he scored the overtime game-winner in the Allentown regionals to send the Nittany Lions to their first Frozen Four in program history — arguably the most significant goal in Penn State hockey history.
DiMarsico is the second Penn State player to ink an NHL deal on Monday, following Kevin Reidler’s signing with the Ottawa Senators earlier in the day.
