Penn State To Host Sexual Assault Awareness Events Throughout April

Penn State’s Relationship Violence Outreach, Intervention, and Community Education (R-VOICE) Center will host a series of events throughout April for Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
Tale Back The Night
The Take Back the Night march will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Old Main on Wednesday, April 1. Led by Lambda Theta Alpha, it will provide a space for survivors to share experiences, resources, and march before a vigil.
In Full Voice Concert
Freeman Auditorium will host the “In Full Voice” benefit concert from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday, April 4. All proceeds will support Centre Safe.
‘What Were You Wearing’ Exhibit
From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 10, the HUB TV Lounge will host the “What Were You Wearing” exhibit. It aims to challenge misconceptions about sexual violence using personal stories and recreated outfits from the Penn State community.
‘This Is What It Feels Like’ Installation
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 14 and 15, the HUB Auditorium Lounge will present artist Terra Lopez’s “This Is What It Feels Like.” Her immersive installation addresses and encourages talks about catcalling and street harassment.
Let’s Tac‘Obout Sexual Health
University Health Services, the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity, and the Paul Robeson Cultural Center will host a panel discussion and performances based on sexual health, consent, and resources. The event will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14.
Honoring Survival
This annual event returns from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, to recognize survivors and their communities. It will take place at the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center Memorial Lounge.
Men Against Violence Walk
Leaving from Old Main at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, this walk brings together men and allies for a shared commitment to ending sexual violence.
Denim Day
Denim Day will take place on Wednesday, April 29, with tabling at the HUB from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. The international campaign was made to raise awarness and victim-blaming and help support survivors.
This year’s theme is titled “25 Years Stronger: Looking Back, Moving Forward.” It will highlight the survivors and the community’s efforts to prevent sexual violence. At Penn State, the R-VOICE Center has been providing these services for the past 40 years through prevention education and outreach.
“As we recognize Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month this April, we honor both the national theme and the 40 years that the R-VOICE Center has supported survivors at Penn State,” director Yvette Willson said. “Sexual assault continues to impact too many students. Addressing it requires a shared commitment to speaking up, challenging harmful behaviors, intervening when something feels wrong, and supporting survivors with compassion.”
Events are available to all Penn State students, faculty, and staff. More information can be found here.
