Penn State Football’s Gabriel Nwosu Looking To Become The First Penn State Punter Drafted Since 2022

The nation’s biggest punter is headed to the NFL.
After five years in Happy Valley, Penn State football’s Gabriel Nwosu will now look to compete at the next level.
Before his time as a Nittany Lion, Nwosu was a punter at The Bullis School in Maryland. He started his Penn State career as a preferred walk-on in 2021.
Nwosu handled kickoff duties for three seasons before taking over as the team’s starting punter for his redshirt senior season in 2025. In his final season, Nwosu boasted 46 yards per punt, which was good for No. 17 in the country. He also pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line 14 times, while being voted to Third Team All-Big Ten by coaches.
Standing at 6’6″ and weighing 296 pounds, Nwosu’s unique frame and leg power make him an interesting prospect for NFL teams in search of a punter. While punters getting drafted is rare, it’s possible that a team would take a swing on Nwosu’s ceiling and make him the first Penn State punter to be drafted since Jordan Stout was taken by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round in 2022.
The 2026 NFL Draft starts on Thursday, April 23, and runs through Saturday, April 25, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. All seven rounds will be aired on ESPN.
