Report: Former Penn State Hoops Guard Kayden Mingo Transfers To Baylor

Former Penn State men’s basketball guard Kayden Mingo has committed to transfer to Baylor, per Rivals’ Jamie Shaw. Mingo has three years of eligibility remaining.

Mingo entered Happy Valley as Penn State’s highest-rated recruit of all time, but chose to call it quits after a disappointing season for Mike Rhoades’ squad. Mingo showed flashes of potential to be the program’s leader for years to come, all while battling through a broken nose through most of the back half of the season.

Mingo ended the season as the team’s leading scorer, averaging 13.7 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game. He struggled from the 3-point line with a 24.4% hit rate, but his ball-handling and steal abilities made up for it.

Mingo is the first Nittany Lion to find a new home out of the transfer portal. His brother, five-star 2026 guard Dylan, had Baylor in his final group of schools before committing to North Carolina. He decommitted from the Tar Heels following Hubert Davis’ firing after a first-round NCAA Tournament loss.

Justin Houser, Dominick Stewart, Eli Rice, Mason Blackwood, Freddie Dilione V, and Melih Tunca remain in the portal.
