Special Olympics Pennsylvania Be a Fan Torch Run Set To End At Medlar Field

The 15th Annual Special Olympics Pennsylvania Be A Fan Torch Run will start in Pittsburgh and end in State College, a Special Olympics press release announced on Monday.

The 150-mile run will take place over three days and is divided into 53 segments, each ranging from 2.5 to 4 miles. It will start at PNC Park on Tuesday, May 19, at 8:00 a.m. and finish at the Lion Shrine on Thursday, May 21, around 5:30 p.m.

The over 300 runners carrying the torch are representatives from over 40 law enforcement agencies and teams in Pennsylvania. FBI State College and State College Police will both be represented. Law enforcement will be joined and cheered on by local Special Olympics athletes.

The run will deliver Flames of Hope to State College, the host of the 2026 Special Olympics Pennsylvania Summer Games. It also serves as a memorial run for fallen law enforcement officers from across the state.

The final leg of the run, on June 4, will see the torch carried from the Lion Shrine to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park to light the Flame of Hope at the opening ceremonies of the aforementioned summer games.
