Former JMU Infielder Cali Legzdin Transfers To Penn State Softball

Former JMU utility infielder Cali Legzdin has transferred to Penn State softball, the team and head coach Clarisa Crowell announced on Monday.
Legzdin joins the Nittany Lions after spending two seasons with JMU, making an immediate impact. She was recognized as a Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference honoree (2026), a Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship All-Tournament Team member (2025) and a recipient of the Sun Belt Player of the Week award while with the Dukes.
As a freshman, Legsdin hit .348 with 49 hits, 18 of which went for extra bases in the form of 11 doubles and seven home runs. 2026 was an even better season for the slugger, as she hit .328, 10 home runs, 20 extra-base hits, and 32 RBI in addition to a 1.027 OPS.
The Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, native will also participate in the ROTC program while in Happy Valley, with the goal of becoming an officer within the United States Army after graduation.
Penn State is coming off a 33-21 season, where they lost in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament to No. 6 UCLA. The Nittany Lions struggled a little in conference play, finishing 11-13.
Legzdin will team up with fellow utility player Brooke Klosowicz to try and bring the edge Penn State needs to take on some of the top teams in the country next season.
