Way Fruit Farm Closing Downtown Location

Way Fruit Farm has announced it will close its downtown State College location on August 22, 2026.
The store, which was located at 252 E Calder Way, is shutting down after failed negotiations “to secure a reasonable price” on a lease renewal.
The downtown store, Way Fruit Farm Downtown Market & Café, offered the farm’s fresh fruit, a bakery, grocery items and a cafe with lunch and dinner options.
“Thank you to everyone, including customers, fellow small business owners & @downtownstatecollege, that supported us during the last 5 years in this new endeavor,” Way Fruit Farm wrote on Instagram. “Our farm & store in Port Matilda are still going strong, so we hope to serve you there soon instead”
Way Fruit Farms’ Port Matilda location will remain open, including the farm, the store, and the cafe and bakery. The store is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. It’s closed on Sunday.
The farm will continue to host events such as music festivals, Apple Cider Fest, and other activities for the local community.
Way Fruit Farm began in 1872, when Robert Way planted 1,000 apple trees as a wedding gift in Half Moon, Pennsylvania. The store now sells its own fruits, pumpkins, and sweet corn, sourcing vegetables from other Centre County farms.
