IFC Rush Week: Part 2

All this week, Interfraternity Council chapters are holding open houses as part of Fall 2010 Rush Week. Each day is devoted to a certain group of fraternities, and is designed to maximize potential members' exposure to the chapters. The second day of Rush Week brings us to a new group of fraternities, and with it a new series of events.

IFC Rush Week: Part 1

Joining a fraternity or sorority at Penn State is a big decision that will affect you for the rest of your college career and beyond. In order to ensure that you choose to join the correct organization, the Interfraternity Council has organized Rush Week. Rush Week is filled with events and information sessions for potential members. All events are dry and aim to focus on the brotherhood aspects of fraternities, rather than the more apparent social ones.

Homecoming Selects Grand Marshal

In an announcement this morning, the Homecoming 2010 Executive committee has selected Olympic speed skater Allison Baver as Grand Marshall. Baver, a Class of 2003 graduate of Penn State Berks, won the bronze medal in the 3000-meter short track relay event at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. The Grand Marshal is the highest honor given to an alumnus as part of the Homecoming celebrations.

Be A Part From the Start Introduces Freshmen to PSU

For the first time in the fall semester, Rec Hall was filled to capacity with a loud and boisterous crowd. But this wasn't the typical Rec Hall event, with Alisha Glass and her cohorts laying waste to their opponents on the volleyball court. Last night, Be a Part From the Start, put on by the Lion Ambassadors, introduced the new freshman class to some of the organizations on campus as well as many of the traditions that we hold so dearly.

Surprise! Women’s Volleyball Still Number 1

In an announcement sure to surprise no one, Penn State's women's volleyball team has been ranked preseason #1 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. The Nittany Lions are looking to win their 4th consecutive national championship and continuing to extend their record-setting 102 match winning streak.

Blue Ridge TV Customers Still without Big Ten Network

As the football season approaches, thousands of Penn State fans serviced by Armstrong Communications and Blue Ridge communications remain without the Big Ten Network. Talks between the two parties have gone nowhere and the fans end up feeling the hurt. With no resolution in sight, DirecTV has thrown their hat into the ring, offering reduced rates for their basic package, which includes the Big Ten Network, to Armstrong and Blue Ridge customers. Blue Ridge Communications and Armstrong Communications remain the only major cable providers in Pennsylvania that have yet to offer the Big Ten Network.
