Legendary high school football coach Herman Boone, made famous by the Disney movie Remember the Titans spoke to a crowd of admiring attendees at Eisenhower Auditorium last night. The evening opened with the scene from the movie where Denzel Washington has his team run through the woods at 3am until they reach the battlefields of Gettysburg ending with a speech from the coach that would ultimately cause the union of a team divided.

The applications for LeaderShape are now available and due by Friday, February 25. LeaderShape is a six day development program that teaches students how to "lead with integrity". This year's program will be from May 8 - May 13.Past LeaderShape attendees have gone on to hold positions within UPUA, THON and many other orgs.
Political satire group The Capitol Steps performed at the State Theatre last night to a slightly older crowd with their musical quips about current hot topics. A group of five comedians took turns changing outfits, accents, and ethnicities during the fast paced show, never skipping a beat on the political pulse.
Tom Verducci is the exception to the rule: he knew he would become a sports journalist by the age of 10. That type of certainty is something many strive for all of their lives, and yet here is a man who had it all figured out before even becoming a teenager. Verducci shared this insight when he spoke at the HUB-Robeson Center last night in an event sponsored by the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism.
From that point on Verducci's career blossomed. He created and fostered relationships while gaining the trust of colleagues, sources, players, and managers. As with any line of journalism, finding the balance between professional and personal conversations was tough: "I don't want to be their friends; I'm an objective journalist."
