How I Got Elected to UPAC

Did you know that, in addition to being accepted through an application process, a number of UPAC members are elected during the UPUA election season? Yeah, prior to last month, neither did I. And neither, it would seem, did many of the other 39,999 students at University Park.

State Platters is Back in Business

Us New Yorkers, we're familiar with the legendary gyro cart known only by it's location--53rd and 6th. Hell, the place has its own Wikipedia page. Needless to say, it sets the bar for street food everywhere. Someday, Sunny Shakhawala hopes that State Platters reaches that lofty plateau.

Why I Didn’t Rally

These rallies started a couple of months ago, you know.

Actually, judging by the reported attendance at the April 4 demonstration --well into the hundreds--compared with the smattering who came out for those marches, you probably didn't know. But back in February, coming right on the heels of THON, Travis Salters tried to kick things off.

Christian Ragland’s Day Off Not Nearly As Whimsical As Ferris Bueller’s

At 4:00 Friday morning, Penn State University police were summoned to the third floor of the HUB, as motion sensors had detected an individual trying to break into room 332. Upon arriving on the scene, they found former UPUA president Christian Ragland clawing at the door, attempting to get in. Ragland was, in fact, asleep.

Upon his reawakening, Ragland seemed to have no recollection of the night's events. He could not name where he was, why he was there, or why he was fully dressed in a gray suit with an argyle sweater.

Adewumi Convicted of Four Campaign Violations

P.T. Barnum once famously said that there's no such thing as bad publicity, but David Adewumi, along with his running mate Sri Pisupati, seems destined to contest that theory.

Though the UPUA election season only began 9 days ago, Adewumi has found himself time and time again thrust into the limelight, and, more often than not, it hasn't been positive press. Before the campaigning even began, Adewumi was ruled ineligible. At Monday's debate, he and Pisupati were conspicuous in their absence, and yesterday the two were convicted of four campaign violations that will set them back more than $200 of the allotted $600 for presidential campaigns.

UPUA Debate Lively, Despite Surprising Absence

At 7:50, the whispers began. At 7:55, when the crowd started to file in, it was even more stark. And when the debate began at 8:00, and there were only three campaign tickets represented on the dais, it became clear to all who came out to UPUA's first presidential debate: David Adewumi and Sri Pisupati wouldn't be joining them.
