
Former Penn State All-American offensive and defensive end Dave Robinson was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend, the sixth Penn Stater to ever attain that status. Robinson, a 1962 All-American for Rip Engle's Nittany Lions, was a three-year letterwinner at Penn State. Joe Paterno was also an assistant coach that year. Robinson was drafted in the first round (14th overall) in the 1963 NFL draft and enjoyed a 12-year career as a linebacker for the Packers and the Redskins.

In just 11 days, a record 710 participants will dance in THON 2013 -- two more than the usual 708 due to an inconsistency in the rulebook and the dancer registration packet. Traditionally, 708 lucky dancers are selected every year to stand for the 46-hours on the Bryce Jordan Center floor. That number -- along with multiple THON volunteers, friends, Four Diamonds children, and media -- is a number THON has determined to be the safest given capacity limits.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett announced a budget plan Friday that includes level funding for Penn State and other state related universities.
Accompanied by university representatives in Harrisburg, Governor Corbett unveiled the higher education part of the state budget which includes a $1.58 billion contribution to higher education in Pennsylvania.

It's always a sad day when a piece of Penn State history is lost. It was only a year ago that we said goodbye to the venerable Old Main elm. Although two years its junior, Penn State will lose another piece of campus history, this time in the form of the Schwab Pipe Organ.

Following precedence, the Penn State Interfraternity Council has voted once again to restrict partying over State Patty's Day weekend. This is the second time in as many years that the IFC is taking significant action against the pseudo-holiday, set to go down on February 23 this year.

The Penn State Student Black Caucus announced earlier this afternoon that the group will be holding an open forum with President Rodney Erickson next Thursday, February 7 at 7 p.m.
