While the football team's disappointing loss stole the show as far as sports went this weekend, the past few days weren't all bad for Penn State athletics, as many teams took home victories. While it wasn't quite as dominant as the rest of the fall season has been, it was still a solid weekend for Nittany Lions in many sports.
Fall has been in full swing for about a month here in Happy Valley, and that can only mean one thing: The endless mix of cold weather is on the way. It's sad, I know, but it's inevitable. Even worse than winter itself is being unprepared for the season, waking up one day freezing in your bed, and wondering what all that white stuff outside is. We at Onward State have prepared you with some warning signs that the cold is coming.
Kevin Montminy is not your traditional Big Ten captain. The Centre County native won't be featured on any preseason watch lists, all Big Ten teams, or even the Nittany Lion starting five. In fact, last year he saw just 14 minutes on the court, and in his three years with the team, he's only scored 24 points. But none of this stopped Montminy from earning the honor of being a captain on the 2014-2015 basketball team, and earning his first scholarship after spending three years as a walk-on.
With a team that returns nine of 14 players and four of five starters, not much changes. While, in Penn State basketball's case they lost arguably their biggest piece in Tim Frazier, Pat Chambers, like most coaches, chose not to speak about the people that left, and focused on this year's team during media day.
The Lion Ambassadors have chosen the Palmer Museum of Art for this year's Campus Showcase, an annual event that promotes a campus spot to the public.
Somehow, just over six weeks into the semester, it's time to start thinking about where you're living next year. State College boasts numerous beautiful livable apartment buildings, as well as houses, and, of course, dorms. Choosing which apartment, house, or dorm to live in is no easy task, so we here at Onward State want to help you take the first step in choosing -- deciding whether to live on or off campus.
