“The floor has reached maximum accommodation. People on the floor now are slow to get off because they don’t want to leave. Right now we are waiting for others to get off of the floor in order to let more people on.”
Freshmen in fraternities generally don’t get to experience much of a free year. Pledging usually takes up more than a half of a semester, either in the fall or the spring. With pledging generally comes obligations to show that you truly want to be a part of the brotherhood that is a fraternity. THON weekend brings one such opportunity to bond with the rest of the fraternity before actually becoming a member of the brotherhood.
THON children oftentimes look up to dancers as superheroes this weekend. One dancer, Maddy Cook, has taken that to heart, choosing to sport a cape for the weekend.
Men’s and Women’s Club Lacrosse is dancing for the Dustin Beaver Family. Dustin was diagnosed with Leukemia on December 23, 2010 at age 10. Today, Dustin is 14 and has been in remission for three years. The lacrosse team’s shirts sport the date 4/18/2014. That’s the date of Dustin’s final chemotherapy session and the members of the teams can’t wait to celebrate.
With THON taking place every year in the middle of February, the weather is usually an issue with the long line that generally forms outside of the BJC. Last year, frigid temperatures caused numerous people in line to suffer from hypothermia. This year, we decided to give prospective spectators waiting in line to get into the BJC the weather forecast for the weekend and let me say, the weather is looking much better this year. Without further ado, here is your forecast for THON Weekend.
