While most major college football programs could be seen tightly packed around conference tables with serious looks on their faces during today's signing day events, Franklin & Co. let the media into a room with a giant recruiting big board, an omelet station, and a whole lot of modern technology.
Penn State seems to have rounded out its 2014 recruiting class on National Signing Day with a commit from Alabama athlete Torrence Brown, according to Rivals' Ryan Snyder. The Tuscaloosa Academy product had originally committed to Southern Miss in January before receiving interest from the Nittany Lions, likely following the Lloyd Tubman's decision to pull back his commitment.
While it seems that Christian Campbell committing last night leaves the football team with just one scholarship to give, don't expect National Signing Day to be boring. In the world of college football and recruiting, you never know who's going to decommit when and there are always surprises. James Franklin, along with current and former Nittany Lions, will be officially announcing the 2014 class tomorrow at 5 p.m. in the Bryce Jordan Center as part of "The Signature Event."
Three-star defensive back Christian Campbell committed to Penn State on Monday evening, according to Ryan Burns of GopherIllustrated.com. Campbell hails from Phenix City, Alabama where he played safety at Central High School. The pick-up came as a surprise as Campbell was not considered a recruiting target for the Nittany Lions.
Three-star defensive back Amani Oruwariye has committed to Penn State, according to a report from ESPN's Tom VanHaaren.
