Former University Park Undergraduate Association President Gavin Keirans has certainly left a legacy within the UPUA since its fledgling inception years ago after the dissolution of the Undergraduate Student Government in the spring of 2007. Since he took the executive reigns, Keirans has seen the UPUA transform from an institution plagued by in-fighting to a legitimate student government, complete with an executive and judicial body, a significant standing budget, a constitution, and an increased level of participation in student government activities.

Last night was the annual Mifflin Streak, where students (traditionally seniors, but really anyone with a good self image) streak down Mifflin Road. There have been controversies in years past regarding police involvement, injuries, etc., but this year was relatively tame in that regard, with no known arrests or incidents.
Regardless, it was an eventful streak, featuring men and women alike, slow walkers, skateboarders, crazy masks, and even a dog walker. Check out some censored pictures after the jump. It should go without saying that these pictures, despite being censored, are not safe for work.
In every post I have ever made, I have made suggestions on what to wear, but not once have I ever suggested what not to wear. I'm a firm believer in the thought that if you're told (or suggested) what not to do, you're more likely to stray away from doing it. Hey, you have to fail before you learn to succeed, and I've made one or two of these mistakes on what I like to think of as the rough road I've taken to finally know what I'm talking about (ha ha). So read up and soak it in, because a lot of these faux pas that I notice all too often usually end up in a disappointing head shake from me, but not a solution to the problem.

Last Stop has come and gone. It wasn't pretty, it wasn't perfect, but it definitely can't be called a failure. Despite several technical and logistical difficulties, all four acts performed to a crowd that dwarfed that of any of this spring's other festivals.

Most students hate purchasing and selling textbooks each semester. They’re grossly over-priced, and when you go to sell them back, a book that cost you $200 is now magically worth $40, yet sold for $200. It doesn’t make much sense, but most of us do it twice a year. In order to combat this, the University Park Undergraduate Association implemented the student Book Exchange program, where students sell and buy books from other Penn State students for no additional costs or surcharges.
The plan has been around for almost two years, but the UPUA has been working on some spiffy updates: a quick search option, a more advanced search option, and a profile page to keep track of your order history. The new version will be similar to Amazon in its functionality.

In an area as confined as State College, it is always exciting when new venues come to town. Of course, as critics, it's extremely easy to be skeptical about the success of new eateries. Especially in troubled economic times, restaurants here one day can be gone the next, without as much as a peep from a population that largely does the same. And yet, I think we can all agree that Crisp, the new salad/smoothie joint on the corner of Pugh and College is at any level a step up from its predecessor, a rather seedy-looking Mini Mart.
However, this isn't saying much, as Crisp's ancestor can hardly be called worthy competition. So, I trekked down College Ave. during a weekday lunchtime and found out what Crisp had to offer. Usually, when I check out a new eatery I run a few mental tests--beyond just "Does this taste good?" One of these is what I call the 'Ten Dollar Test,' a vital consideration for broke-ass college students. Basically, it asks 'What can I buy for ten dollars?' 'Will this fill me up?' and 'Would I rather have spent the same amount somewhere else?' Though there are definitely exceptions, ten dollars should simply be enough to get by for a decent meal in State College.
