Penn State is currently evaluating new federal guidelines on mask-wearing and could change on-campus rules in the near future.
Local municipalities and businesses can still enforce stricter guidelines of their own if they'd like.
Provost Nick Jones said Penn State doesn't plan on mandating vaccines ahead of the fall semester.
Starting Monday, May 17, maximum occupancy limits for indoor events across the state will rise to 50%. Outdoor events and gatherings, meanwhile, will be capped at 75%.
Most notably, the ordinance is now aligned with relaxed Centers for Disease Control (CDC) masking requirements.
Penn State already requires students living in on-campus housing to be immunized from mumps and measles, among other infectious diseases.
