The Lorax is a beloved children’s story (and upcoming movie) by Dr. Seuss, where Seuss paints a world where mankind never appreciated the earth. At Penn State, the Office of the Physical Plant has decided to maintain order of the campus trees. To do so, they have created a registry, the Trees of Penn State. Their commitment to uphold the moral of The Lorax can be found in the site’s address, LORAX.opp.psu.edu.

Besides the substantial increase in alcohol-related EMS calls this last State Patty’s Day and those affected by the general debauchery that ensued over the weekend, the “holiday” ended badly for any resident of the Meridian thinking of throwing a party for the rest of the semester. Following the events of this State Patty's Day, it seems that the apartment managers--in a notice given to every resident--have banned parties in any apartment, regardless of a “signed social agreement,” for the rest of the semester. Citing the “inexcusable” damage as the reasoning, the ban will be enforced with a $300 fine for any violators--with no "warnings". Meridian personnel would neither confirm or deny the new policy

For 39 minutes and 46 seconds, Jon Graham was having one of his best games as a Nittany Lion. The freshman forward likely wishes he could have back the 11.4 seconds that followed. In that time, Graham missed two free throws that would have extended a one point lead then fouled Northwestern's John Shurna with 2.6 seconds remaining. Shurna made both of his foul shots to give Northwestern a 67-66 win over Penn State.

The Academy Awards are tonight, but if you’re looking for last-minute advice in your Oscar pool, well, we’re not here to help you. That would be far too easy. But we here at Onward State have quite the assemblage of movie buffs, and we figured it would be far more interesting to go around the table for the second year in a row and pick who we think should win. No, our votes don’t count, but they probably should. So whether you’re hoping that Billy Crystal, veteran host, can turn the Oscars into an enjoyable 4 hour affair or whether you’re hoping that Sacha Baron Cohen crashes the red carpet to make things interesting, we hope you’ll indulge us as we walk you through our favorites in film of the past year.

If you want to do something much more awesome than destroy Penn State's reputation this weekend, seeing this week's HUB movie is a great alternative. I saw the movie several times in theaters, and though the Muppet fan in me has a few issues, bear with me- even a lesser Muppet Movie is still a great movie.
